Property Calculator Australia Pty Ltd (ACN 162 802 486, ABN 89 162 802 486) trading as Property Calculator Australia (“PCAU”, “we”, “us”, “our”) is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, hold, use and disclose your personal information, and how you can access and correct it.
We handle personal information in accordance with the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) and the Australian Privacy Principles (APPs). This policy applies to our mobile application and website (together, the “Service”). By using the Service, you agree to this Privacy Policy.
We collect the following kinds of personal information:
We do not collect your device GPS location. We do not sell your personal information, and we do not use it to build an advertising or credit profile about you.
We collect most information directly from you — when you create an account, use the calculators, subscribe, or submit an enquiry to a professional. We collect technical information automatically through analytics tools. In some cases we may collect information from third parties who help us operate the Service, such as our app-store, payment or authentication providers.
We use your personal information to:
If you choose to connect with a professional and give your consent, we share the information listed in section 1 — your contact details, preferred contact method and your calculation summary — with one matched professional — a property or finance professional, such as a licensed mortgage broker or buyer’s agent — so that they can contact you about your enquiry.
Important: if that professional takes up your enquiry, they retain a copy of the information shared with them in their PCAU portal so they can continue to assist you. This means your details remain accessible to that professional after the initial contact. If you want your information removed, you can contact that professional directly, or contact us and we will assist where we can.
We record the date and version of the consent you give. You may withdraw your consent to future sharing at any time by contacting us. We cannot recall information already shared with a professional who has taken up your enquiry, but you can ask that professional to delete it.
The professionals we refer your enquiry to are independent businesses, not employees or agents of PCAU. They are required to handle your information in accordance with the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) and the consent you have given, and to contact you only about your enquiry.
We share information with service providers who help us run PCAU, only to the extent needed to provide their service to us. These include:
We may also disclose personal information where required or authorised by law, or to protect the rights, property or safety of any person. We do not sell your personal information.
We may send you news and updates about PCAU. You can opt out at any time using the unsubscribe link in any message, or by contacting us, and we will action your request promptly. We handle electronic marketing in accordance with the Spam Act 2003 (Cth).
Some of our service providers may store or process information outside Australia. Where we disclose information overseas, we take reasonable steps to ensure it is handled consistently with the Australian Privacy Principles. By using the Service, you acknowledge that your information may be stored or processed overseas by these providers.
We hold information on secure servers and take reasonable steps to protect it from misuse, interference, loss, and unauthorised access, modification or disclosure. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, so while we use reasonable efforts to protect your information, we cannot guarantee absolute security.
If a data breach occurs that is likely to result in serious harm, we will respond in accordance with the Notifiable Data Breaches scheme under the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth), and will notify affected individuals and the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner where the scheme requires.
We keep your personal information only for as long as we need it for the purposes described in this policy. Different types of information are kept for different periods. For example, we keep your account information while your account is active and for a reasonable period afterwards; we keep information about an enquiry you submit to a professional only for as long as needed for that enquiry and our records; and we keep financial and transaction records for the period required by Australian tax law (currently five years). When we no longer need your information, we take reasonable steps to destroy or de-identify it.
You may ask us for access to the personal information we hold about you, and ask us to correct it if it is inaccurate, out of date or incomplete. Contact us using the details below. We may need to verify your identity first. If we cannot give you access or make a correction, we will explain why.
The Service is intended for adults and is not directed at children. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will take reasonable steps to delete it.
Our website uses cookies and similar technologies to help it function, remember your preferences, and understand how the site is used. You can set your browser to block cookies, but some parts of the website may not work properly if you do. We do not place information that directly identifies you in cookies.
If you have a concern about how we have handled your personal information, please contact us first using the details below, and we will respond. If you are not satisfied with our response, you can complain to the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (OAIC) at oaic.gov.au.
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes to the Service or the law. The current version is always available in the app and on our website, with the “last updated” date shown above. Where a change materially affects how we use or disclose your personal information, we will take reasonable steps to notify you.
